BAINBRIDGE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA 2014-2015 SEASON AUDITIONS
Sunday, August 24, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for the 2014-2015 Season. The following positions are open: Principal horn, section horn, section trumpet, violin, viola, double bass, and 3rd flute/piccolo. All other instruments are welcome to audition for the substitute musician list.

Auditions will be Sunday, August 24, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Musicians are requested to arrive 15 minutes ahead of their appointment and look for signs to the warm-up and audition rooms. Those auditioning should prepare two contrasting works of their choice that display the depth of their musical sensitivity and range of technical ability. Come prepared to play a total of five-eight minutes of music. Sight-reading for all instruments will be requested; music will be provided on site. Those interested in auditioning for principal positions will be asked to prepare excerpts.

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Performance dates for the BSO’s 2014-2015 four-concert season are as follows.

February 28 & March 1, 2015: Raise the Roof! STRAUSS. R. Introduction to Also sprach Zarathustra, PUTS Millennium Canons, COPLAND Down a Country Lane and Variations on a Shaker Melody, DAUGHERTY Raise the Roof!, DVORAK American Suite, op. 98b, and BEETHOVEN Choral Fantasy

April 18 & 19, 2015: Shakespeare: Comedy and Tragedy with The BPA Shakespeare Society NICOLAI The Merry Wives of Windsor Overture, MENDELSSOHN Selections from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, TBA Young Artist Concerto Competition Winner, BERNSTEIN/PERESS West Side Story Overture, BEETHOVEN Coriolan Overture, and TCHAIKOVSKY Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture (1880)

May 30 & 31, 2015: Gershwin’s Piano Concerto DEBUSSY L’aprés-midi d’un faune (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun), WAGNER Tristan und Isolde: Prelude and Liebestod, STRAUSS, R.Concerto for Horn No. 1, op. 11 in E-flat major, STRAUSS, R. Feierlicher Einzug, and GERSHWIN Piano Concerto in F major
